WILSON MOFYA TOLL STATION GETS SHOT IN THE ARM

Zambia China Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, has stepped forward to provide support to Zambia in controlling the spread of the coronavirus.

COVID-19 was first reported on 31st December 2019 in Wuhan City of Hubei Province in China and has since spread across the globe, affecting all sectors of the economy and Zambia is no exception.

The Ministry of Health has therefore put in measures to promote hygiene and facilitate infection prevention across all walks of live in Zambia.

Therefore, Road Tolling, specifically, places the National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) in the face of the virus as Toll Collectors interface with various motorists from home and abroad on a daily basis.

It is in view of this, that Zambia China Economic and Trade Zone (ZCCZ), donated 1000 surgical face masks, 50 bottles Jik Bleech,50 bottles of liquid soap ,10 water buckets  and 200 pairs of  gloves  to Wilson Mofya toll station .

Speaking during the handover ceremony held at Wilson Mofya toll Station, ZCCZ Deputy General Manager Mr. Zhou Liang said that the purpose of the donation was to help the Toll Gate staff reduce exposure to the Covid-19 at their work place.

Mr. Liang said that Toll Collectors handle cash and cards every day, and if no necessary precaution was taken, both staff and motorist would be exposed to high risk of infection.

“Preventive measures are very important for our wellbeing, I hope that the donated items will help in preventing and mitigating the spread of Covid-19” he said.

Mr. Liang said that CNMC as the parent company of ZCCZ had invested over 2 billion US dollars in Zambia over the past two decades.

“CNMC will continue undertaking its corporate responsibility, stand with  the Zambian Government to take every measure to fight against the coronavirus pandemic, protect the health of employees and guarantee for stable production” he said.

National Road Fund Agency Director/Chief Executive officer Eng. Wallace Mumba, Accountant General Mr. Kennedy Musonda and Smart Zambia National Coordinator Dr. Martine Mtonga were on hand to receive the donation.

Eng. Wallace Mumba said that he would ensure that the donated items were distributed to all Toll Stations and used for the intended purpose.
