NRFA BOARD CHAIRMAN NOEL NKOMA RESIGNS FOLLOWING NOMINATION AS MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT

The National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) Board Chairman, Mr. Noel Nkoma, has resigned from the NRFA Board with immediate effect following his nomination as a Member of Parliament by the Republican President, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema.

Mr. Nkoma announced his resignation while addressing members of the NRFA Board, and Management staff in Lusaka.  

Mr. Nkoma said he had formally resigned from the NRFA Board with immediate effect following his nomination to serve as a Member of Parliament.

Reflecting on his tenure as Board Chairman, Mr. Nkoma said he was leaving the NRFA as a more stable, accountable and transparent institution, underpinned by strengthened governance and a renewed commitment to effective management of resources for the road sector.

Mr. Nkoma said his tenure had been characterised by collective effort and cooperation between the Board, its committees, Management and the Secretariat. He noted that the progress recorded by the Agency could not have been achieved without the commitment, professionalism and support of the various stakeholders.

He expressed his sincere appreciation to the NRFA Board and Management for the support and cooperation rendered to him throughout his tenure as Board Chairman. He particularly thanked Board members and Management for their commitment, guidance and constructive engagement in advancing the Agency’s mandate.

Mr. Nkoma urged the Board and Management to maintain the momentum achieved and continue upholding the principles of good corporate governance, accountability, transparency, integrity and professionalism in the management of public resources.

He further encouraged the Agency to remain focused on its mandate of mobilising and managing resources for the road sector and to continue working closely with Government and other stakeholders in contributing to the development and maintenance of Zambia’s road infrastructure.

And NRFA Director/Chief Executive Officer Mr. Daniel Mtonga thanked Mr. Nkoma for his leadership and contribution to the Agency during his tenure as Board Chairman and wished him well in his new responsibilities as Member of Parliament.
