Noel Nkhoma appointed NRFA Board Chairman
Finance and National Planning Minister SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE has appointed Economist NOEL NKHOMA as National Road Fund Agency -NRFA- Board Chairperson.
Mr. NKHOMA’s appointment is effective from Tuesday 2nd April, 2024 and was introduced to the rest of the Board members at a meeting held at the Ministry of Finance and National Planning on 10th April 2024.
In a congratulatory message, Dr. MUSOKOTWANE urged Mr. NKHOMA to stimulate the Board and management towards the Government’s common purpose of building a better country for all.
Dr. MUSOKOTWANE said Mr. NKHOMA should prioritize the value for money in financing by ensuring that road sector funds are well managed and streamlined with strengthened payment systems.
The Finance Minister has urged the NRFA Board to work closely with other public institutions such as the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), Road Development Agency (RDA) and Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA).
Dr. MUSOKOTWANE said the Board should further work with the Department of Immigration to assess the state of operations at major borders to ascertain that systems are integrated for the benefit of the travelling public and regional trade facilitation.
He has also encouraged the board to work with the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Department in the Ministry of Finance to explore road sector financing models that will further reduce the dependency of major transport infrastructure projects on the Treasury.
He said toll managers should also be engaged in continuous training and re-training to ensure improved efficiency at toll-gates.
